AAVS: 125 Years for the Animals
Client: American Antivivisection Society www.aavs.org
Length: 19 minutes
"Thank you for giving AAVS a film that represents us so well. I hardly have words to express how proud I was at the 'premiere' on our 125th anniversary. Our audience gasped and chuckled at just the right places! You captured the very essence of our organization and our cause and everyone who viewed it recognized what an authentic portrayal it was.
"Of course I want to note how much I appreciate the experience of working with you. I expected it to be enjoyable on some level, but I hadn't anticipated how satisfying and collaborative a journey it would be.
—Sue Leary, Chair and President of the American Anti-Vivisection Society
Description: This historical video describes the key moments in the organization's 125 years of activism and education to end experimentation on animals. The audience also learns of the AAVS' programs today, as an energetic staff develops educational curricula, supports animal refuges and alternative methods of scientific research, helps develop legislation, and works in tandem with other activist groups.
Client goal: In spring 2008, the AAVS celebrated 125 years of working "for the animals." In celebration, the group hosted its supporters, colleagues and friends at a gala event at a Philadelphia hotel. The video provided a centerpiece for that event, and a reminder to the audience of the history and importance of their work. Produced for that occasion, the video will continue to be used in educational settings and as a resource for those interested in the history of the animal rights' movement.
